This was the oddest premise to a Christmas that I have ever seen put to film. This movie felt average to me as it did not do anything spectacularly but it was not god awful either. The style of the movie is very similar to the animated Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer with its choice of animation which many people will associate with Christmas which is smart. The design of the aliens in the movie was quite typical of like a Martian though the creature is not from Mars and I did like the idea that the aliens have colours but they lose their colour when they steal and are greedy. I did like the use of visuals and movements to show how the aliens felt as most of them don’t talk which made it interesting to only have the movement of the alien to see how it felt. The movie is quite short being only about 40 minutes so it is very quick and to the point with everything which leaves little room for any deep characters or themes that makes it not as interesting to me. Honestly, when I first heard the title I expected the movie to be funnier but in fact it isn’t really that funny and tries to be more heartfelt but I feel the movie could have used more humour to make it more memorable.
All in all this is a cute and short little flick that is perfectly good for families. While I think other Christmas specials have done it better and I will most likely forget this movie I still recommend this for anyone looking for some new Christmas content that is not too long and fun for the whole family.

Alien Xmas isn’t one of the best-written movies, it doesn’t have the best graphics or visuals, the animation is just okay, and the voice acting is better than expected. All these things being said, I still enjoyed this movie. It’s funny, quirky, and it feels like the kind of movie that you could sit down and watch with your family. The plot is completely in left field, the mixing of aliens and Christmas, but it still managed to be a decent movie.
The characters are pretty simple for a Christmas movie, but the development is decent, and it’s pretty easy to relate to almost all of them, depending on where you are in your life. The plot is very, very weird, but it does flow in a logical direction, with a little bit of rhyme and reason. The only thing I would say is that the plot, while it flows, we never really find a why. Why they are greedy, how they became the way they are. Because of this, the movie never really finds its focus or its reason for being. Frankly, it feels a little bit pointless.
I do get a retro vibe from this movie, like many children’s Christmas movies that came out in the 1960s,70s, and 80s. For that reason, the nostalgia adds a little bit to the overall enjoyment of this movie. Other than that, there isn’t a lot this movie brings to the table. Honestly, if you are searching for that feeling of nostalgia you are better off going and finding one of many classic Christmas movies from the 60s-80s before watching this one. Not my favorite movie, and disappointed by the direction it went. I don’t recommend seeing this one, unless you are truly out of options, or looking for something that has the potential to over-perform in the eyes of certain viewers

I guess the first word that comes to mind when watching this movie is: bizarre. It was a weird movie, with interesting choices of characters. As this is a Christmas movie, I’ve got to say, this is by far the weirdest version of a Christmas movie I have ever seen. Getting past the aliens, world domination, and burglary, Alien Xmas does indeed carry some of the Christmas charm other Christmas movies have. The main aspect that is shared is the spirit of Christmas and how these themes play a huge part in the plot. Ignoring all the aliens, this would have been a typical Christmas movie where the protagonist learns about the true meaning of Christmas. But instead, there were aliens, an invasion attempt, and even brief world domination. This movie did indeed break the mold for the Christmas formula.
Overall, the addition of the Klepts was an interesting design choice. They have an interesting background of being colourful and generous beings, but the transition to the present day greedy Klepts seemed like it was a plot device but had no real reason. There was never a reason why Klepts became so greedy.
The movie is also shot in a style reminiscent of older Christmas movies, like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. There was a hint of nostalgia when I watched this movie with that style of filming.
All in all, this movie was an alright Christmas movie. It definitely had an interesting spin on the classic formula, but to me, it just seemed like a bizarre movie. It’s a good choice for a family movie night if there is nothing else to watch, as this movie will still bring some entertainment for a family to watch together.
