Bad Boys II

We ride together, we die together, Bad boys for life!
Summary:
It’s the middle of the night, and a drug exchange happens in the middle of the ocean. The ecstasy drug is dropped off in coffins picked up by the opposite party and taken to land. Following a lead, Mike and Marcus interrupt a KKK meeting and exposed two bags of drugs. Knowing that there was more than that, the two pursue more leads that get tangled with a case from the DEA and Marcus’ sister Syd.
Characters:
Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are detectives with the Miami PD. Mike is a player, a smooth-talking detective who is great at his job, but takes a lot of unnecessary risks. Marcus on the other hand is a calm, collected family man who occasionally loses that cool, mainly on Mike. Mike’s main priority is his police work and some extracurricular activities. Marcus’ focus is on his family at all times. This leads to issues between our characters.

Bad Boys II takes everything that worked well in the first film and sticks with that and moves away from the elements that didn’t work in the first. Personally, I much prefer the sequel to the original as I find both the action and comedy to be better. Once again Will Smith as Mike Lowrey and Martin Lawrence as Marcus Burnett shine in this film with their character interactions constantly making me laugh. The way they can constantly bicker yet also shows how these two men are the closest of friends feels pretty real of most friendships. I like how the film explores the development of Mike and Marcus’ relationship as they have some real arguments that could affect their friendship long-term but we see how they figure that out as well. The story this time around has a bigger scale and is more fun in general. In this film, I definitely felt like it took more work for our heroes to get the job done and the villains seemed one step ahead and I liked seeing how Mike and Marcus overcome that. The villain is over the top and really intense and he’s great in every scene he’s in. The action also improved with more scenes throughout with different types of action such as chases and shootouts that you expect in cop movies. The climactic fight scene is great grand and awesome with a big chase and huge explosions which is very fun in this movie. Even though this movie is about two and a half hours long it never feels slow, there is also something to hold onto your attention and the characters and story are interesting so you want to know what happens. The comedy has a wide range but most jokes made me laugh pretty hard even counting the fact I have seen this film multiple times.
All in all, this is a great action comedy that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun movie to watch where you can just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Compared to the first Bad Boys movie, I found this one a lot more enjoyable. Since the characters were already pretty developed, this movie was able to focus more on a succinct plot, while having the ability to develop the two protagonists. Even for a two-and-a-half-hour movie, I found it pretty enjoyable.
The first thing I want to mention are the negatives, because there aren’t all that many. For one, the movie is a pretty long one, and there are areas where the movie seems to slow down. Another area that I wish was more developed were some of the side characters. Although the movie was from the perspective of the Miami PD, I wish we could have seen Syd and the DEA in action a bit more.
Now onto the positives. This movie was able to balance the action and the comedy a lot more than the first. The many action scenes throughout this movie caught my attention and kept me in suspense. However, this movie was still able to crack some jokes here and there to alleviate some of the tension when the scene got too stressful. When not in combat, the relationship between Mike and Marcus is one of close friends. Sure, they might fight a lot, but when it matters, they have each other’s back, which I think is a nice relationship and is one that reflects reality.
Overall, Bad Boys II was a lot more enjoyable compared to the first movie. From the fun characters, witty dialogue, and the stunning action, this movie is perfect to sit back with a nice bowl of popcorn.

Bad Boys 2 brings the flashy comedy of the first movie with a ton more plot. It’s so much faster-moving, and I am here for it. The amount of events that are jammed into this movie makes for an entertaining watch. If you were worried after the original, this movie should erase all the doubt. It’s thrilling, the comedy is great, and some of the new characters are awesome. It doesn’t take nearly as long to develop the characters in this movie, and that really helps the pacing as well. The plot moves through a couple phases, and I thought the villains were great. The major plotline included a couple of minor plots that were super entertaining, more rooted in our characters, and it left me wondering all movie long.
I thought Mike and Marcus had even better interactions in this movie. They are funnier, the action plays off better, and simpler actions feel smoother. Although they are the same characters as the first, I thought they were a lot better written in this one. The scenes are less drawn out, which leads to less dialogue that feels forced or unnecessary. That was the big point to me. The plot was faster, which led to smoother characters. Less of a lull made for a much better movie, and a much more fun watch. I enjoyed Bad Boys, but Bad Boys 2 is a lot better.
With such an improvement in the sequel, this is one you should absolutely check out. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are fantastic once again, and the comedy is top-notch. If you are looking for a cop movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still packs a punch in the action department, this is the movie for you.
