Deadpool

This guy’s got the right idea, he wore the brown pants
Summary
Deadpool starts off with a bang and 12 bullets. Wade Wilson has lived a pretty troubled life, and just when things start to look up, they fall back down. Diagnosed with late-stage cancer, Wade is handed a death sentence. When approached by a mysterious man with a solution to his problem, Wade wants nothing to do with him. It isn’t until he sees how much it hurts Venessa to watch him suffer that he decides to take the offer.
Characters
Deadpool is our protagonist and he is nothing like your typical superhero. With his constant fourth-wall-breaking, dirty humour, and violent tendencies he stands on his own among superpowered individuals. While he does have a soft side with his fiancé Vanessa, Deadpool (Wade Wilson) tends to be a loud and violent individual though I mean who wouldn’t when you constantly feel your injuries but you can’t die. Vanessa is Wade’s fiancé and she has had a hard life but she is also a fighter as she proves that throughout the film.

Deadpool is a blast of a movie. It is crude, violent, hilarious, and it has a great plot to boot. Ryan Reynolds is fantastic and one of the best-casted characters ever. That man is born to play Deadpool and he does a fantastic job. The comedy is fantastic, and this is one of the most entertaining movies I’ve ever seen.
The plot is wonderful. The violence and comedy are written into the story in a way that felt natural. It adds to the plot, and either grows the characters or provides some comedic relief. This movie is written in such a way that it hangs on comedy and violence, but the violence doesn’t feel unnecessary. That is the worry with movies in this genre, that it will be crude or violent but have absolutely no significance or impact on the movie itself. That doesn’t occur. It is smooth, entertaining, and decently paced. The other thing that the comedy and the violence help with are whenever this movie hits a slower moment plot-wise, your attention is held. It never gets boring and it doesn’t ever feel slow.
The characters are wonderfully written, and the actors that were cast were great. Ryan Reynolds is great as Deadpool and Morena Baccarin as Vanessa fits the vibe perfectly. I also enjoyed the blurring of lines between good and bad, between villain and hero. The writers did a good job of keeping the character of Deadpool consistent with the comics while adding some movie magic to the role. The villains are great, the jokes are funny, and the violence is ingrained in a way that feels natural.
Deadpool is such a fun movie to watch, careful with whom you watch with thought. It is totally off-brand for Marvel, and especially Disney. That being said it was a wonderful movie, one of my favourites, and I am super excited for Deadpool’s intro to the MCU.

This movie is hilarious. Now, of course, comedy is subjective and you have to enjoy this violent, dirty, and fourth-wall-breaking type stuff but if you do you will laugh hard at this film. Right from the opening of the film you get the sense of what this movie is with funny credits for the actors and directors all poking fun at the Hollywood norms. In my opinion, the biggest reason this movie works is Ryan Reynolds himself as Deadpool. He embodies the character perfectly from the humour to the way he wears the mask it all works and he is my favourite part of this film. All the other characters are pretty good too from Vanessa played by Morena Baccarin to Weasel played by T.J. Miller as they are all funny and work in this world well. The story is a simple revenge story which is pretty different from a superhero story and I like that. The action is super creative and the way the characters fight is interesting with good use of humour and violence to create a different style than other comic book films. The film is very violent so expect the violence when coming in but it serves its purpose to show our “hero” doesn’t always stay within the lines to get his job done. The comedy works so well that the action is my second favourite part of the film and the fourth-wall-breaking is just the cherry on top. Re-watching this made me all the more excited for Deadpool’s eventual MCU debut.
All in all, this is a hilarious comic book movie that I would recommend to anyone over 18 who loves action and dirty humour. So hop on Disney+ and check it out.

Deadpool is an absolutely hilarious movie. After watching some Marvel and DC content, Deadpool was like a happy medium. Being an R rated movie, it had a lot more gore than I originally expected. However, it was still as funny as I’ve heard others say.
The best part of the movie is for sure the comedy and the fourth wall breaks. The humor in this movie is unique to Wade Wilson, and it provides some nice comic relief during the seriousness of the plot. The fourth wall breaks are also a Deadpool staple. Without it, the humor and the character of Wade wouldn’t have been as funny. The characters are also really strong. I like the addition of Colossus, who is, in a way, a foil to Wade. All the other characters, including the villains were gems as well. I also appreciate the simple plot. Wade isn’t some deep character trying to find a meaning to his life. He was done dirty from a doctor and he wants to return the favor. This simplicity fits in to the atmosphere of Deadpool. It’s a simple movie with fun moments and fun characters.
There aren’t any real downsides to this movie. The only thing I can really think of is the gore in the movie might not be for everyone. Other than that, this movie had everything you could want from an anti-hero movie.
Overall, this was a fun movie to watch. Its simple plot and fun characters blends with the humor well. Definitely recommend giving this a watch if you can watch R rated movies.
