Love is War: All the Old Knives
All the Old Knives, A Review
All the Old Knives is a fun twist on a classic spy movie. Focused around plot and character development, the movie slowly builds up to a high tempo climax.

Should You Watch:
All the Old Knives is a different kind of spy movie. Contrary to high intensity and gunslinging action, this movie takes its time building up the characters and the plot. If you want to watch a different kind of spy movie with a focus on characters and plot, then this is the one for you.

Who’s in All the Old Knives?
All the Old Knives is a different twist on the spy and thriller genre. Compared to some of the recent spy films I’ve watched, All the Old Knives takes a slower approach to flesh out its characters and plot. Throughout the whole movie, the conversation between Henry and Celia builds up to a climactic ending that I found quite satisfying. Since both of these characters had CIA background, it was fun watching both of them slowly whittle away at each other through their words.

When it comes to characters, I really enjoyed all of them. I especially liked the chemistry between the leads. Being old lovers, the pair really sold off that feeling. Through their small actions and reactions, you can tell they played well off each other. Besides the characters, I liked the plot as well. I thought it was an interesting method on how they told their story. The events in the movie also were quite interesting. They were able to build up suspense, which really helped the ending.
Negatives wise, I have to say that the movie felt a bit long. Being 2 hours long, it didn’t really feel like too much happened. There was a bit of downtime near the middle where things didn’t really progress. Also, there were some unnecessary scenes sprinkled in. The scenes that caused the movie to receive its R rating were some of those unnecessary ones.
Overall, All the Old Knives was a fun movie. It was a different take on the spy and thriller genres, which I found refreshing. If you like a slower movie that builds up to a climax, then give this one a shot.
