Platonic Episode 2 Review

Episode 2 picks up where episode 1 left off, although there is a lot less focus on the bar. The episode is really funny, and a great watch. Seth Rogan and Rose Byrne continue to put on a show.
Platonic Episode 2: Gandalf The Lizard – 8.9/10
Man this is a great show. Last episode was such a funny start, check out that review here, and while this episode isn’t as great, it is still really good. This week’s episode focuses considerably more on Sylvia’s life compared to Will’s, although both characters are still quite involved. Sylvia is attempting to buy a larger house for her growing family, and Will decides to tag-along. The catch is that this massive house is actually a former assisted living complex, full of medical equipment. It’s a hilarious plot, and I really enjoyed the episode.
The over-arching plot doesn’t grow a ton in this episode, it’s very contained, but we do learn a bit more about Will’s divorce and that whole mess. I don’t see the divorce playing a huge role in this series later on, but until Will gets over his ex-wife, it is going to be front and centre.

Our characters flesh out a little bit, and it’s clear as day that there is more to Sylvia than meets the eye. While our characters were a bit stand-off ish in episode 1, they are starting to bond again. Both characters have fallen into a funk that is their current life, and it’s going to be interesting watching both of them climb out of that funk. It’s also going to be hilarious as it will for sure go terribly.
All in all, I’m really enjoyed Platonic so far. The humour is great, although inappropriate for many, and our characters are really good. The acting has been solid, although Rogan and Byrne are carrying that department currently. The story is really simple and episodic so far, but I’m enjoying the style and it fits the vibe of the show. Well done Apple.
