Hubie Halloween

“He can weather all of your insults and your thrown objects, and he responds with humor and kindness.”
Summary:
Set in Salem, Hubie Halloween displays the days leading up to a very fateful Halloween as well as the day itself. It begins with the escape of a mental patience and quickly rolls to the main protagonist, Hubie. Hubie is the town’s Halloween monitor, and he keeps Salem safe on Halloween year after year. This job comes with its perks, which for Hubie include being attacked by eggs, and a lot of public humiliation. Regardless, Hubie puts the town’s safety on his back, and he goes out of his way to make sure everyone has fun and is safe. Halloween is the biggest night of the year for the town, and at times the political power of the town forgets that safety is more important than tourism dollars. This is where the real story begins.
Characters:
Hubie Dubois is the protagonist of the film and he proves to be a fun character to follow. Hubie is the protector of his hometown of Salem as he constantly tries to make sure everyone is having a good time and he tries to keep them safe. Hubie also loves Halloween as every year he monitors the town to make sure everyone is a trick or treating respectfully. Hubie is the nicest and most considerate man as he constantly compliments people, unfortunately he lives in a cruel town who hates him as he is constantly mocked, ridiculed and has stuff thrown at him. Even through all of that Hubie remains a great guy who always does what is right even if he gets quite frightened. Violet Valentine is the girl who Hubie has had a crush on since the 2nd grade and he believes she is the friendliest, most popular and best looking girl. Fortunately for Hubie, Violet is basically all those things as she is good looking and she is friendly which can be seen by the fact that she has three foster kids. She also is the only person who is nice to Hubie and seems to admire him for his kindness and she seems to maybe have more feelings then just admiration when it comes to Hubie.

I really enjoyed this movie, start to finish. It is entertaining, pretty darn funny, and the characters are awesome. Adam Sandler and Julie Brown are a hilarious, lovable combo. This is exactly what I expected from an Adam Sandler movie, and one of the reasons I enjoy them so much.
The characters are one of the best parts about this movie. The characters are so unique, and they all bring something to the table. From Hubie to Aurora, everyone adds to the entertainment in the form of comedy, character development, or even just to add to the plot. There are a few characters thrown in to give another suspect for all the events that occur in Salem on that fateful Halloween. I also thought that the acting was pretty good, and the moment with Shaq was beyond funny.
The plot moves along pretty well, with a bit of suspense thrown in. The ending isn’t totally surprising, but the path to get there is filled with some ups and downs. I did enjoy the smaller story lines within the larger plot, but I found there were a few moments during the movie that it lost my attention.
All in all, this was a pretty good movie. It was the goofy, Adam Sandler movie that I expected to see, and if you have seen any of his other movies, you know what I’m talking about. The characters are both lovable and relatable, and I found myself feeling bad for Hubie at times throughout. While the plot didn’t always hold my full attention, it flows along and does a good job of avoiding being too predictable. I’m not a huge fan of knowing what’s going to happen before it does, and this movie does that for the most part. If you are looking for a funny Halloween movie that falls on the goofy, not scary side of the spectrum, go give this Netflix original a watch!

Hubie Halloween was an enjoyable movie to watch. As a comedy, it brought lots of laughs, and with spectacular characters, the whole movie was a rollercoaster of fun. Adam Sandler, playing Hubie Dubois, brought the movie to life with his acting, and each supporting character aided in the world building. The comedy in this movie was spot on for my tastes. The jokes gave me a bunch of good laughs. Besides just the comedy, the storyline and themes in the movie were enjoyable to see and watch. Although the story was simple, the way it was able to convey themes so seamlessly made the movie better in my eyes. The storyline also helps with the twists provided near the end of the movie. As a result, the ending twists were things I never suspected. On a side note, a lot of characters in the movie were also actors in other popular shows or movies. This made the movie enjoyable, as I was able to watch the movie as the actor as their character in the movie and to also see them as their other characters interacted in this movie world.
I think the best part of this movie is to watch it in a group setting with some friends. In a group setting makes the movie more enjoyable as you have someone to laugh with you.
All in all, it was an enjoyable movie to watch with great comedy and a joy to watch with company.

Review: Hubie Halloween is a funny Halloween themed movie that is sure to cause a lot of laughter. As most Adam Sandler comedies the humour in this movie will make you laugh out loud many times. Adam Sandler shines as Hubie giving the audience another funny character with a distinct funny voice that makes this character stand out among his other great performances. The story in this film is not complicated but it is enjoyable with many elements I have not seen in a Halloween film before and the ending of the movie did manage to surprise me. Julie Bowen as Violet Valentine pairs perfectly with Adam Sandler as she is funny, quirky, and you see why she likes Hubie. The two have many of my favourite scenes with their awkward romance. The rest of the supporting cast is great with many of Sandler’s usual crew who all give pretty good performances that create some good laughs. Throughout the film I related to Hubie and found myself feeling bad for sometimes and hoping he would get credit for all the good things he did for Salem. Setting the movie in Salem was a cool idea too as Salem is most known for their witch trials so of course Halloween would be a big celebration for them. If you have seen an Adam Sandler movie then you should know what to expect; it’s goofy with a few heartwarming moments and some great jokes.
I don’t really have a bad thing to say about this movie except maybe it would have been nice to see more of Violet Valentine’s kids as it looked like they were going to be a bigger part of the story than they were.
All in all I would recommend this film who in this month of October is looking for a fun Halloween movie that will bring you laughter instead of scares.
