How Long Does It Take to Beat Persona 5 Royal?
On average, Persona 5 Royal takes 100 hours to complete. Depending on playstyle, this number could be higher or lower. Personally, I completed my first run-through of this game in 114 hours and 17 minutes. Now, the reason why I took so long was because I took my time with this game. Now, compared to some other people’s playthroughs, this might seem quite fast. With the access to Royal’s DLC, I did use some overpowered Personas to speed through the game. If this game took you upwards of 150 hours, that wouldn’t be a surprise.
Now, with that in mind, you’re probably wondering how a game could take this long to complete. The game is divided into two main styles: either you’re roaming around present-day Tokyo to build confidant rankings and social stats, or you’re in the Metaverse, whether that’s Mementos or a Palace. During my playthrough, I took my time in these sections, particularly Mementos.
I would spend a good few hours in that dungeon to reap all the rewards possible. There is a mechanic in the game where you collect stamps in Mementos, which is how I spent so long in the dungeon. Since the stamps appear randomly, I would not move on to another section until after I had collected all the stamps. Near the end of the game, I did want to proceed, so I skipped some stamps, but the time spent there remained quite high.
The game also features a bunch of stories and cutscenes. There is an hour’s worth of animated cutscenes alone. Now, that only accounts for 1% of the game, but it’s still a good amount of time. Non-animated cutscenes also take a good amount of time as well. This game has a high focus on story, so don’t be surprised if you’re spending a lot of time reading the non-voice-acted scenes, or listening through the voice-acted ones. Either way, there’s also a lot of time spent there.
So, to summarize, the game is roughly 100 hours long. Personally, I took 114 hours. This number will fluctuate based on how much time you want to spend on each part of the game. The slower you run through the story, or the more time you spend in the Metaverse, the longer this game will take. Don’t be shocked if you reach 100s of hours played. The game has enough content to do that. Even if the time commitment seems huge, Persona 5 Royal makes it worth the effort.
